The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war – General Douglas MacArthur

HOUSING

Lacey’s House currently supports 11 full-time residents.  Each resident has a private room furnished with a bed, nightstand and dresser.  The rest of the house is common area and all residents share use and responsibility for these shared spaces (kitchen, bathrooms, living and laundry rooms).

TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE

Thanks to very generous donations, Lacey’s House has vehicles and a small school bus.  The bus and vehicles give Lacey’s House the ability to take residents to appointments and to participate in community events.

We also recognize that veterans who do not live at the house are also in need of transportation assistance to and from medical appointments.  With the help of Jim Palmer, Lacey’s House is working to expand its transportation program to include a bus route to assist rural veterans get to the VA Hospital and CBOC.

EMPLOYMENT ASSITANCE

We all know the feeling that comes along with earning a paycheck.  At Lacey’s House, we also recognize that having a job is the first step to gaining control of a life.  Every check builds pride and helps turn discouragement into hope, and our staff is here to assist residents in connecting with Washington County Veterans Services Counselors to assist all job training and placement services available to them.

ACTIVITIES

Lacey’s House isn’t just a cause; we are your neighbors.  We take pride in our home and our community and, like you, actively participate in local events.  We are also sensitive to the misconceptions and stereotypes that exist around the topic of homelessness.  It is our hope that in being out and about in the community and in participating with other local volunteer efforts, you will get to know us a little better and come to believe in our potential.

We also know that laughter and fun are great healing agents.  With that in mind, we work to plan activities and adventures for our residents that will help start to heal personal hurts, and bring us closer together as a house family.

POLICIES

Lacey’s House has a ZERO TOLERANCE for drug and alcohol use.

Everyone living at Lacey’s House is expected to treat the home with respect and consideration.  Household chores and maintenance are shared evenly and everyone is expected to do his/her share.
